2025 marked a pivotal year for Neighbourhood Pharmacies. As we launched the first year of our Prescription for Success: 2025–2029 —and celebrated 30 years as an Association—we translated strategy into action, delivering measurable results for pharmacy businesses, patients, and the health system.
Over the past year, we strengthened pharmacy’s role as an essential healthcare and economic engine by advancing evidence-driven advocacy, protecting the sustainability of the sector, and positioning pharmacies to thrive in a rapidly evolving environment.
Key highlights from 2025 include:
- Stronger advocacy, backed by evidence. We expanded our data foundation through national public opinion polling, the development of a new economic footprint initiative, and 10 in-depth reports—ensuring pharmacy perspectives were grounded in credible, timely insights.
- Meaningful policy impact. Our advocacy helped protect patient access and sector stability by mitigating supply-chain risk, reducing the projected impact of pharmacare and PMPRB reforms, and shaping policies that reflect the realities of pharmacy practice.
- Expanded patient access to care. We supported progress in pharmacy-delivered services, including expanded prescribing authority, new publicly funded vaccines, and advancements in testing and scope of practice.
- Reduced burden, modernized systems. From digitizing patient information leaflets to advancing claims and barcode standards, we worked to streamline operations and modernize requirements.
- Growing influence and engagement. Media engagement increased by 48%, website traffic by 53%, and our social community by 14%, reflecting growing demand for pharmacy business expertise.
- A stronger, more connected community. Pharmacy EXPO and the Specialty Pharmacy Summit achieved record growth, while our Partner network expanded to 63 organizations across a more diverse mix of sectors.
As we enter year two of Prescription for Success, we are building on this momentum—accelerating innovation, strengthening partnerships, and advancing policies that enable pharmacies to deliver accessible, high-quality, and sustainable care.
