Neighbourhood Pharmacies supports the Manitoba College of Pharmacists’ efforts to provide greater clarity for pharmacists and pharmacy operators delivering care across provincial and territorial boundaries.
As pharmacy care becomes increasingly virtual, integrated and interprovincial, regulatory frameworks must continue to protect patients while enabling innovation and timely access to care.
In our submission, we recommend the College:
- Maintain a principles-based, technology-neutral approach that provides regulatory clarity while allowing pharmacy practice and models of care to evolve.
- Avoid unnecessary duplication, including registration and documentation requirements where appropriate safeguards are already in place.
- Provide greater clarity for cross-jurisdictional care, including how complaints, regulatory responsibilities and conflicting provincial requirements will be addressed.
- Work toward greater consistency across Canada, reducing unnecessary regulatory variation that adds complexity and limits the efficient delivery of care.
We look forward to continuing to work with the College and pharmacy regulators across Canada to support safe, efficient and innovative pharmacy care for patients, wherever they are located.
