Health Canada is reviewing the Cannabis Act that legalizes and regulates access to cannabis, including cannabis for medical purposes. Neighbourhood Pharmacies believes there is still a need for a distinct regulatory pathway for Canadians to access cannabis for health and therapeutic purposes. Our submission encourages Health Canada to support an expanded role for the pharmacy sector in authorizing, distributing and dispensing medical cannabis to provide optimal clinical oversight, convenient access and opportunities for patient education on safe use and harm reduction.
