Pharmacy Advocates Unite to Express Concern to Federal Government Over FDA Changes to Drug Importation Policy

Neighbourhood Pharmacies Participates in Joint Letter to Federal Government

In the letter (attachment in full below) Neighbourhood Pharmacies and other pharmacy advocacy groups express concern over the FDA's approval of Florida's application to import medicines from Canada, citing potential exacerbation of drug shortages in Canada.

Health Canada is urged to review their regulations to safeguard against further shortages and ensure the maintenance of access to drugs for patient care. Additionally, the letter also requests attention to other factors draining Canada's drug supply, such as unlicensed internet sellers catering to U.S. consumers, and requests action to protect Canada's drug supply from exploitation by importation programs.
