Neighbourhood Pharmacies Joins International Colleagues Urging Reciprocal Pharmacist Credential Recognition

World Pharmacist Day 2025

On this year's World Pharmacist Day, the Neighbourhood Pharmacy Association of Canada has joined with our World Pharmacy Council counterparts in Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom to request our respective Governments enable freer movement and greater ability for registered pharmacists to transfer and practice within any of our countries.

In a joint letter issued to all Heads of State, we have called for the reciprocal recognition of pharmacy qualifications and training between our countries, all of which have high quality, robust, and comparable requirements for training, education, licensure and entry to practice. As a compelling example of success, we've showcased the work done in Nova Scotia to accelerate the integration of internationally trained pharmacists into its workforce.

Reciprocal credential recognition will remove barriers to international health workforce mobility and allow all countries to better support their health human workforce needs.
