Neighbourhood Pharmacy Association of Canada has submitted a formal response to the Ontario Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development welcoming the government’s proposed redesign of the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) and its focus on strengthening the healthcare workforce
We commend the Province for this important step and calls for pharmacists to be explicitly designated as a priority occupation within the new healthcare immigration streams, reflecting their growing role in primary care and public health.
We are also pleased to see Ontario’s continued leadership in supporting the healthcare workforce through complementary measures, including the addition of pharmacists to the province’s As of Right labour mobility legislation. Together, these actions demonstrate meaningful progress toward reducing red tape barriers to health workforce labour mobility and access to care. Neighbourhood Pharmacies will continue to work constructively with government to ensure ongoing reforms are fully aligned with health system needs and support a sustainable pharmacy workforce across Ontario.
